    • What is the best Industrial Engineering systems useful for quick costing?
    • What IE system is recognized by apparel buyers, global authorities and stakeholders?
      • Research published by University of Manchester, conducted by Prof. Doug Miller of UK says, in apparel manufacture there are three PMTS (PTS) consultancy firms specializing in Method Time Measurement (MTM). These are Sri Lanka-based Sew Easy, US-based MODAPTS and UK’s GSD (Corporate) Ltd. Prof. Miller is working at University of Northumbria now.

  1. How many different “SewEasy” options or price points are available to be chosen by Apparel Manufacturers, Retailers or IE, work-study stakeholders?
    • SewEasy offers a singular all inclusive IE, work-study solution. None to add at latter stages due to improved understanding. All quick, historical SMV options are provided at no extra cost.

  2. How many Industrial Engineers do we need, per 100 workers?
    • UPS has 1000 industrial engineers out of a work force of 152,000. They set standards for closely supervised tasks says Larry Breakiorn, SVP.

  3. What are the international benchmarks for setting Labour standards?
    • “PMTS Systems such as SewEasy can contribute loads of values to the apparel industry by quick and accurate cost as per the international benchmark, of which all small medium and large sized factories can afford or easily use” says Charles Dagher, CEO of Dagher Consulting Group (DCG), in Just-Style and Fiber2Fashion.

  4. Where can we find good Industrial Engineers?
    • Use proven, modern Lean framework to train middle management on industrial engineering. Provide them with automated system to quickly perform routine work-study tasks. PC based systems such as SewEasy, etc. can be mastered in weeks said Keerthi Abe, Consultant, at the 3rd workshop of the “Productivity Improvement and Cost Reduction in SME Apparel Manufacturing Sector”; which was part of a 20 month SME-Apparel project funded by EU / Asia-Invest on RMG production.

  5. What is better cost reduction approach for apparel Industrial Engineering “Lean or Six Sigma”?
    • At Sheffield Hallam University, UK & University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka James Marsh, Terrence Perera, Vijitha Ratnayake and Gamini Lanarolle published their productivity oriented garment manufacturing related findings. They have examined how both Lean and Six Sigma has been applied; and appear to say that both approaches blend in to lower overall costs, while improving the Environmental Sustainability. Ratnayake stated elsewhere that, the Hirdaramani Group as outstanding in practicing Industrial Engineering in Sri Lanka Apparel sector, and emphasized that MAS, Brandix, Maliban, Timex and many others are well above global average in Environmental Sustainability as well.

  6. Why use modern IE, work-study techniques?
    • PMTS is a database of different operation sewing times for method analysis and setting up of time standards for needle trade environment such as cutting, sewing, pressing, examination and packing. Proprietary PMTS database like GSD, SewEasy®, etc. are carefully selected improvised data code customized for sewn products industry wrote Professor Prabir Jana of NIFT, New Delhi in StitchWorld magazine.
